Old Thorns 5’s 6-1 Wokingians (23/09/17)

The match begin with some confusion since the referee didn’t turn up. Unperturbed both sides kicked off agreeing to ref a half each and the Onions capitalised on the confusion gaining  an early lead in the 5th minute through Ryco who capitalised on a through ball. He took the ball on his right and unleashed a wicked shot at goal. Our  illustrious  opponent’s equalised within 5 mins taking advantage of some slack marking in the penalty box to draw level. 1-1

Moatey soon after  pulled out an amazing save stretching to the left corner or else we would’ve been a goal down.
With an unfortunate injury to Bismarck , I was brought in late in the 2nd half on the left flank. Acting centre half Richard Lundie played the ball towards me on the edge of the box and I decided to dummy the ball as i had seen Jason making a run. Jason squared the ball  first time finding Ryco and we ended up with a 2-1 lead.
Soon after their left back passed the ball to the centre back and i charged on their central defender winning the ball on the edge of the box and ended up one on onewith the keeper. There was always going to be one winner and I converted in clinical fashion to score our 3rd goal.

In the 2nd half the team displayed outstanding performance to up he gears and take the game away from the opponents.

I got my 2nd goal after Tom Walbyoff slotted a tidy through ball near the half line and i ran through the defensive line, flicked the ball to my right and shot in the right corner.

The legend that is Paul Kimber got the teams 5th Goal after Tom sent another fine through ball and Paul scored past the keeper with ease

My 3rd goal and the Onions 6th and final goal  came in the last minute of the game where Paul played the ball to me on the edge of the box, i took a touch and curled the ball into the far  post beating the keeper. A comprehensive score and a fine days work at the REMPF !
